I definitely agree with those who say the French Manor is over-priced. We stayed in the Versailles room over Memorial Day weekend and paid about the same as what we would pay for the Ritz or W hotels. The room was country-chic, with a four-poster bed draped in chiffon, complimentary sherry, and bathrobes. I did expect a bit more than a 19-inch TV, scratchy robes, and musty room. Many people also commented on the inexperienced, high school-aged wait staff. I would also agree that their inexperience is a bit frustrating, since they have signs everywhere that they are a AAA Diamond restaurant (don't actually know what this means). You have to wait a long time for breakfast (which was quite nice but teeny, tiny portions) even when there is no crowd. We opted not to try their super-expensive restaurant because 1) the wait staff and 2) mixed reviews. If we're going to spend $300 on dinner in the Poconos, it definitely will be at a place with a worthy reputation. All in all, it was a lovely weekend. We went horse-back riding (they packed us a lunch for $19, which was cute and yummy), swam in the pool, hiked, and were refreshed when we came back. The drive from Brooklyn is only 2 hours and we don't even have to fill up on gas (though we did anyway, because duh). We won't be back due to the cost for what you get.

We stayed at the French Manor right before my husband deployed to Afghanistan. We enjoyed the room and thought it was spacious. We paid for the suite. The bathroom was standard and spacious. We checked out the pool, which was a little chilly for me. Our dinner was amazing. We still talk about it. We had the chef tasting dinner. Every item that was served to us was unique, delicious and unique. Pros: the restaurant was amazing, the waiter was good, the inn, overall was clean and tidy and organized. Cons: the cost of the room/suite were a little expensive but I would not let that deter you from staying here at least once.

This place used to be the sister (and way more upscale version) to the Sterling Inn which is right down the road. Now that the owners have sold off Sterling they are now concentrating on the French Manor. It is simply gorgeous - what a view!! The star of the whole place is the restaurant. You would not expect to find such a high caliber place (jacket required) in the Poconos, but here it is. Go - it is perfect.

This place is SOOOOOOOOO overrated! stay at the ritz carlton in another city for the price that you're paying here.....staff is weird and ridiculous--this place reminds me of an alfred hitchcock movie!

This was my second visit to the French Manor and both were positive. One of the few fine dining establishments in the area. The setting is beautiful and the atmosphere is romantic. The French Manor is a special occasion replacement for us of an old favorite, La Bonne Auberge in New Hope, PA which sadly closed last year. Although not quite on the same level as La Bonne Auberge, it is 2 for 2 so far. First visit I requested a special entree which they were more than happy to make for me, and second visit I had the salmon entree which was very good.

I wrote an early review of The French Manor based on my experience with their staff and restaurant. I'm writing this review based on my wedding which I had there. I wouldn't hesitate to say that one of the women who runs the Manor was the WORST part of my wedding day. Every time I talked to her it was like the first time we were discussing my wedding. Our reception dinner lasted two and half hours- half my guests had been done with dinner for half an hour and the other half hadn't even been served yet. There were lots of other problems as well, but the worst part was her attitude. She was completely unapologetic and didn't care that we weren't happy. Stay and eat here, but no matter what you do, do not think about hosting an event here- you'll be miserable at the end of it!

Food, service and ambiance couldn't have been better. I had the scallops which were cooked perfectly my husband had the duck which was tender and served with a sauce that was perfection. Will return soon.

I wish there were more stars for me to give The French Manor. Where do I begin to describe how PERFECT of wedding I had at The French Manor? One word to describe the entire night: Magical. My fiancé and I celebrated my birthday at The French Manor a few years ago. I immediately knew, "this is where I want to get married." The high ceilings, rustic decor, stone fireplaces, the place is a fairytale. We began planning our wedding with Bridget last May. From the very beginning, she was more than accommodating, helpful, and very responsive to all of our questions. We had no doubt about wanting to get married at The French Manor! We had our wedding tasting a few months later and we nearly cried with delight at how tasty the food was. We are big food people so this was a very important factor for us. Bridget, was available for us whenever we needed her. She went above and beyond - and so did her staff!! I've never met a more friendly wait staff. My guests are still talking about how wonderful they were! And the clean up was immediate! Dishes and glasses were swept away leaving tables full of flowers and candlelit votives. They were so flexible in making a menu we wanted and a signature drink. The ceremony overlooked the beautiful mountains. They provided all chairs and tables which made things so much easier. And how can we not mention the beautiful stone steps and brand new patio?!! The cafe lights hanging from the rafters made me feel like I truly was a princess in a fairy tale. I highly recommend Bridget, her family, and the entire staff at The French Manor. I'm so sorry it's over already! A night I shall truly never forget. I am still smiling and I think I will be for a very, very long time. It was perfect.

My husband and I stayed at The French Manor in the La Maisonneuve Suite #1-Bordeaux for 2 nights. They were offering buy one night get one half off. The room had a private bath with a standup shower, a jacuzzi which was in the same room as the king size bed, a fireplace, a little refrigerator, coffee, and a little balcony (with a little table and two chairs). Even though our room was located on the first floor the view was breathtaking. We initially planned to stay at the spa suites but they had carpet cleaning scheduled for one of the days. So we were going to stay one night at the La Maisonneuve and one night at the Spa Suites but when we saw the gorgeous views of La Maisonneuve we didn't even bother looking at the other one! Oh by the way, La Maisonneuve has the best views out of all the rooms. The staff was very pleasant and professional. Our room was very neat and clean (with plenty of towels). They serve breakfast from 8-10 (I believe). The first morning we actually overslept and were woken up by a phone call at 9:55am, it was the waitress asking if we'd like breakfast in bed (extra $10 per person) or if we wanted to come down for breakfast. We went over for breakfast which was very nice. It's a sit down restaurant with a menu, not buffet style. We both ordered eggs Benedict which was okay. Both eggs were overlooked and the hollandaise sauce was broken on both...we didn't let this ruin our impression of this place. For breakfast on the second day we ordered omelettes and they were great! For dinner we made reservations at their restaurant. Again, the staff was very professional and knowledgable. We ordered lamb lollipop and snail as appetizers and I got a lamb rack and my husband got veal as our meals. I wasn't a fan of the snail appetizer but my hubby loved it! It was us and another couple dinning that evening in the whole restaurant which I found to be a little odd. But anyway, the food was great! During the day 3-5 they serve tea with coffee cakes and cookies (no extra charge) which was really nice as well. We actually took our plates out to the little deck that has a beautiful view. The only advise I'd give is when you're booking a room make sure to ask for the top floor. We were on the first floor and on the second night a couple checked in to the room above us and we could hear everything...the footsteps, the bed squeaking, toilet flushing, ect. We also brought our own candles, bubble bath, bath salts, and wine. They have wine glasses in the room. The bed was super soft with amazing sheets. The pillows were a little bulky but that depends on the preference (we like flat pillows). It's a great place, a little pricey but I believe you get what you pay for. We will definitely come back again and would most definitely recommend this place to everyone! Oh, and the outlets are only about 20 minutes away. Also, Bushkill Falls are worth checking out!

Beautiful scenery. Excellent staff and service, a beautiful dining room and the best sea scallop dinner I have ever had! The t.v. was a bit small and Jacuzzi tub had jets only on the bottom but we still enjoyed it, not having a bathtub at home. The carpets in the room was a bit dirty but with lots of hiking trails and many guests, it's understandable. The room was spacious and relaxing and we plan to return in summer and/or fall next time. The pool and hot tub area was very clean and relaxing too.

The French Manor Inn & Spa was absolutely fantastic! We weren't the normal clientele as my best girlfriend and I were looking for a girls spa getaway from the city for a few days! This place was perfect! We went during the week and got a great deal as it seems to be more popular around the weekend time. It felt like we had the place practically to ourselves (there were some others around but I think it was just so peaceful it seemed like we were the only ones!). Upon arrival, we were upgraded to a suite with a gorgeous view, a jacuzzi, a balcony, a cheese plate, and a complimentary bottle of sheri! It was beautiful! We booked a spa day one of the days we were there which consisted of a massage, a facial, and a spa lunch delivered to us while we lounged by the salt water pool in our robes! I mean, need I say more? I never wanted to leave! So yes yes yes to the spa! The food is amazing- wake up in time for the complimentary country breakfast and don't be shy about skipping into town to try the local dining establishments as well. We also decided that we wanted to splurge on the chef's tasting dinner in the dining room one night with the wine pairing. Ok, it's a bit pricey but it's WORTH IT! The chef makes about a million courses and the bartender matches the wines perfectly to each course (with a heavy hand I may add!). Prepare to feast! What an experience! Tip of the hat to the chef! I would definitely give this place 5 stars for any occasion! Thanks French Manor Inn & Spa for making girls getaway the best "zencation" yet!

The best spa experience I've ever had. The spa was very accommodating by squeezing us in last minute for a couples package. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Small and intimate. We spent 7 hours there, mostly just relaxing pool side. You can have services and in between chill in the jacuzzi or have lunch by the pool. The staff kept offering to refill our water and tea throughout the day. Will definitely go back again. Best rainy day I've had in a long time. Also the prices are very reasonable.

Let me start and say we must just have a different point of view than others who have previously posted. We were staying at the b&b and had dinner at the manor dining hall our first night and to summarize, this place is what 'classy' looks like if you have defined class by something you saw on Dallas. The pros: - cute dining area - convenient if you're staying there (as there's not much else dining-wise in that area) - the palette cleanser was a huge portion that was delicious sorbet. way too big as cleanser but nicer than actual desert The cons: - the first one is just silly to me, there is a dress code that enforces men wearing jackets but wait staff doesn't even wear jackets and you are in a b&b - the butter was frozen and bread was stale (although they did mention made in house) - the amuse-bouche... waiter was very excited to tell us we were getting one (as if he practiced), but it was served in a bent fork that made it nearly impossible to eat without it spilling down your face, and flavors were not awakening to my taste buds at all - on the menu, the lobster bisque said it had truffle but it just had burnt mushroom (burnt mushroom does NOT equal truffle) and lobster was frozen so much it had turned gelatin in texture - the meat came out dangerously rare with a plate full of sauce - waiter responded 'not a problem' after everything. when someone asks if you want more water and you say yes, you are not implying it's a problem for them to fill it up So if this is your only option, I get it. But I'd explore other options like driving closer to central Jersey or Philadelphia so you can eat real food, or if not, heat up something from your grocer's frozen entree section, either option is better than eating here.

We had our wedding weekend at The French Manor, and it was perfect. We chose the location because we wanted a rural mountainous setting, but we're from NYC and used to fine dining and luxury accommodations. The Main Inn has gorgeous architecture and warm comfortable character, and the food and service are top notch. The concept for our wedding was to have an intimate group of about 60 people and bring them together for an entire weekend, providing activities so our friends could meet and mingle. We started on Friday night with a cocktail party where we had antipasto displays, passed hor d'oeurves, a soup and salad bar, and pie. The weather in the last week of September was perfect, the trees were just turning and the view from the terrace and the grounds was spectacular. It got a little chilly in the evening, but we had heaters, and our guests enjoyed their cocktails on the lawn under the stars! We heard nothing but compliments for the wait staff. They were attentive and accommodating. For example, we had passed sushi and one guest asked for sushi options that were cooked. He went directly into the kitchen to ask and came back with a special plate of California roll just for her-she loved it! No, these waiters are not the seasoned professionals of NYC fine dining, those people work in NYC. Yes, they were smiling, enthusiastic and eager to please. As for activities, Bridget offered and we accepted yoga, skeet shooting, a hayride afternoon tea, and picnic lunches. Bridget coordinated a yoga instructor and mats for a class that took place on the lawn overlooking the view. Beginners enjoyed an introduction to yoga, and more advanced student were offered variations. Everyone loved it. The skeet shooting was offsite by a different vendor but our guests enjoyed that experience as well. The hayride seemed successful- they even ran it twice because my 2YO nephew missed the first run! The tea was a nice pick me up before the ceremony and I enjoyed the warm apple cider immensely. The picnic lunches were gourmet and perfect for people to take with them on the hiking trails, or eat at the tables that the staff put on the lawn so guests could enjoy the fabulous weather. There were a million details to coordinate and Bridget and the French Manor staff were all over every one. Our guests had a wonderful time! The ceremony took place on the overlook about 20 yards from the terrace. The staff set up chairs and everything was perfect. Our band was set up on the terrace, and guests enjoyed cocktails and music immediately after the ceremony spilling out onto the lawn. We had gourmet passed hor d'ouerves: Ahi tuna skewers with a sweet and sour dipping sauce, lamb chops with a mint pesto, bacon wrapped scallops, duck liver pate with currant jam, salmon mousse on a cucumber slice, jand more. Delicious. We were able to take pictures on the road that leads up to the manor with fall foliage, and on the beautifully manicured grounds (the flower beds and potted plants around the terrace were stunning). We had the dining room set with two long tables with runners, flowers and candles down the middle and the look of the dining room was absolute elegance. The staff replaced candles as they went out. The food was prefect. We started with a salad, then had a sorbet pallet cleaner (papaya) which was the perfect texture (re:other reviews about it being too hard). For main course, we offered Filet Mignon, Pan rendered duck breast, and celeriac and Horseradish crusted line caught Salmon. I tasted both the Duck and the Steak, and they were both impeccable- wonderful flavor combinations, perfect execution. Our guests raved about the food and everyone was completely thrilled. We stayed in the Turret room this visit, but have also stayed in Venice, Genevieve and one of the La Maison Suites. Each room has its own character and charm, and the beds are to die for. They are extremely soft, with super deluxe sheets- you never want to get up! Throughout the planning process, Bridget was perfect. She is super organized and takes impeccable notes. She always got back to us on time, and she had wonderful suggestions for what would make things more special. She was extremely receptive to our ideas, and committed to our vision. Every visit we made, she took care of us, every single bit of constructive criticism we gave her was immediately and effective implemented, AND, she was easy going and fun! I highly recommend The French Manor to anyone. As a weekend getaway it is romantic, relaxing and posh. For your wedding it is elegant, comfortable, gourmet, flexible and delightful. For dinner it is upscale, delicious and special. The Logans are in the right business- they seem to love what they do, and they are continuinosouly looking for ways to do it better. They are nice people, with a beautiful inn and you should visit them early and often.

Amazing view during dinner. Service was a little wonky, but compensated by free dessert and cocktails.

Just incredible. We had our wedding here. I've never felt more attended to. Our guests had a great time and my bride was just so happy all day. All guests were served promptly and the food was incredible. Appetizers during the cocktail hour were also just fantastic Do not hesitate to contact this place. We've been back each year for our anniversary and it gets better and better. Now they have a pool and spa and that was quite to pleasant surprise our last time there. A DEFINITE MUST VISIT!!

My husband and I give this place a huge thumbs up. The chef here does an excellent job with all of the courses in including a delightful amuse bouche and pallet cleanser. My husband says he'll never be able to enjoy a lobster bisque ever again because of the standard the chef set!

Let me start by saying the food was wonderful. There is no issue there. They have a great chef on staff. The service was just so disappointing! Let me first start by saying that this was my first time at The French Manor but the couple we dined with have eaten there every year on their anniversary for 16 years which was known when the reservation was made. For a $100 per plate, there is an expectation to have great service, especially when there were only 2 other tables that had guests and initially, we were the only guests there. First of all, our napkins were not placed in our laps when we sat down. We were informed of the specials and then the waiter walked away without offering drinks. The waiter was pleasant but butchered the pronunciation of every word on the specials. He seemed very nervous and stared at us blankly when we cracked a joke. Throughout the evening, our drinks were empty and we had to flag down the waiter to get a refill every time. Each time a new drink arrived, the "lime" that was originally requested was forgotten. The worst part is that the couple we were with ordered a bottle of wine before dinner came and the waiter/bartender clearly forgot and brought it when our plates were empty, at which point the wine was refused. He apologized and said he was busy checking in guests but we watched him chatting with other staff on the other side of the dining room as we were anxiously waiting for the wine. This was the kicker....the waiter informed us of the dessert choices and then when we started to place our order, he put his finger up and said.."I'm just going to let you think about it" and walked away!! Let me clarify that we were literally starting to order when he backed away to attend to the other table! When he came back 10 minutes later, the one dessert we wanted was just taken by the guests he left our table to attend to!! The overall atmosphere just wasn't right and it really left a bad taste in our mouth. The presentation of the dining area was "blah" for a 5 star restaurant and the rose in the middle of the table was wilted when we arrived. Small details like this do matter! The food is great but they really need to take some time to address the other details. If management would like to contact us for more information, we are willing.

Being a local to that area and a resident of NYC for several years now, I can honestly say that dinner here is top notch for the Poconos. I have not stayed overnight, so I cannot comment on that experience, but wow - the food is incredible. It was definitely much more formal than I expected (they require a jacket in the dining room), but the tradeoff is carefully crafted plates and very very good service. Also, I found the prices for this type of dinner to be quite reasonable. For a party of 3 with apps, drinks, entrees and dessert, we spent $220. I'm giving 4 starts instead of 5 because of the strict dress code. When we went, I didn't have a jacket and there was only one other party of 2 in the whole dining room. They still made me borrow a jacket to wear into the dining room, which I thought was ridiculous. My dress shirt looked better than a jacket that was too large on me.

Hate is too strong a word but this place never fails to disappoint! This was by far our best experience here. We dined outside where the stunning view was a VAST improvement over the dark overbearing dining room. We had the chef's six course tasting menu. The food was all good... except for the ice flecked sorbet. At 100 smackers it was insanely overpriced. At $80. I might not have felt ripped off. The amuse-bouche was HALF of a pan seared sea scallop in myer lemon sauce. Perfectly done and delicious... but HALF!? The appetizer was a "Pan Seared Zuchinni Cakes Topped with House Smoked Diver Scallop and Dill Infused Mousse; Finished with Tobiko Caviar"... a definite home run. Next was a seafood bisque. As good as I have had... the perfect balance of creaminess without crossing into a floury bechamel. I think the AWFUL coconut sorbet was next... it was freezer burned and had ice crystals in it... the kind of detail they always seem to miss. The "Heirloom Tomato Salad Layered with Cherry Scented Marscapone, Arugula, Fresh Figs, Pistachio Powder, Drizzled with Fig Vinaigrette" was probably he best... certainly most interesting dish of the night. The entree was the night's special... lamb chops in a vinaigrette reduction. Great quality meat perfectly done. We finished with a chocolate tort and a Marscapone blueberry cheesecake... both were excellent. No espresso or cappuccino... and please DO NOT tell me that French press is "just like" espresso!! The flavored sugars were a nice touch. I have to say this was a great meal and almost... ALMOST... redeemed this place. But... here are the downsides... No one says hello when you walk in the door. There they are in the dining room chatting amongst themselves and they ignore you. The details are all wrong... the bathroom doors don't lock and the cheapest paper towels you can buy are proudly on display. If you are going to make the poor children working there wear tuxes... then dress up the venue as well. The tuxes are SO out dated and making me wear a jacket to a country restaurant... this is PAINFULLY pretentious!! One last complaint is what is missing. No foie, no paté, no escargot... clichés? Maybe but at a French restaurant I would like these traditional options.

Came to the FM for a wedding I wasn't invited to. (Yes, I was Wedding Crashing. ) While driving up from central Jersey with friends, we were not sure what to expect. After getting lost in the scary Pocono Mountain, iPhone saved the day and got us to the location. We pull up to this cute little French-style cottage where each style of room was grouped together to create the cottage feel. **IMPORTANT NOTE: This is a "couples resort" .. don't book a night here with your girlfriends. Trust me. We stayed at the Spa Suite .. which was not really a "suite" in my opinion. However it was cute and cozy with a balcony showing the most stunning view of the mountain. Fireplace inside with jacuzzi tub and big bathroom. There is a bottle of Sherry for use in the room (blehh) and you also are given a cheese platter upon arrival. This is a small place .. so small the whole wedding (which was under 50 people) took up the whole establishment for the weekend. From what I understand, everyone was very happy with the wedding and reception. I can't speak for the food, but I would sure be interested in experiencing the French cuisine here!

I spent the weekend here to celebrate my recent engagement. We were looking for something romantic with a vareity of things to do in the winter, since we both don't ski. We had a great time here. The food at the restaurant was amazing. It was expensive but you are paying for the high quality. The breakfast, which is included, it also great and has several delicious options, my favorite being the eggs benedict. We found the service to be wonderful and enjoyed the fact that we could spend the morning relaxing by the indoor pool and hot tub in warmth while be able to look out over the snow covered mountains. Beautiful! There is also a spa, but we did not get to take advantage of that. We decided to drive over to the casino, which is about 20 minutes away, and we had a lot of fun there playing the games and getting a few drinks. Overall, it was a great place to celebrate and I would love to go back there for an anniversary after we get married.
